Seal of approval
Date of news/blog: 15th December 2023When it came to choosing a care home for their mum, Margaret Groom’s family knew that it would need to be somewhere their late father would have given his seal of approval to.
That’s because Margaret was “the shining light” in their dad Fred’s life and he would have expected nothing but the best for his beloved wife.
Fred was a Managing Director for a large company, and he enjoyed spoiling Margaret and their four children during his working life, including taking Margaret on holiday to California, which they both loved.
Margaret’s children therefore knew that only the best would be good enough for their mum when it became clear that she would no longer able to live safely in her own home.
“Mum has vascular dementia and Alzheimer’s and looking back, when dad was alive, we think he covered it up, but it became more apparent when he died and it got to the stage where she needed to be somewhere where she could be safely looked after,” says daughter Billy.
“We visited a few homes, but Foxhunters particularly stood out. It was immaculate inside, everywhere smelled so nice, there was no-one slumped in chairs doing nothing and we were very impressed with the activity programme.
“Mum was dad’s shining light and he always made sure she had the best things in life, so we did the same by bringing her to Foxhunters.
“She joins in activities, and we always walk away from visiting her knowing that she is safe and well cared for. We can’t ask for more than that.”
