First impressions count
Date of news/blog: 8th May 2024Gemma Carter is the first person most people see when they enter Foxhunters, and she very much understands that first impressions count.
And with her background, we couldn’t have picked anyone better to be our Receptionist.
In addition to her lovely bubbly personality, she comes from a customer service background, which is certainly evident when you see welcoming visitors to the home.
You may even see her dancing with our ladies and gents on occasion too.
Yorkshire lass Gemma moved to Wales after marrying her Welsh husband and initially started her career as a graphic design (which she still does in her spare time) before moving into retail and spending ten years working as an Assistant Manager for The White Stuff chain.
It was at The White Stuff that her people skills shone.
She explains: “There was a real emphasis on the customer experience, so we were always trying to add an extra layer to this experience by making them feel special when they were in store, such as offering them refreshments.
“Needless to say, I know how all our ladies and gents like their tea and coffee here!”
Seeking a better work/life balance after having a baby during lockdown, Gemma met the former Receptionist at Foxhunters whilst walking their dogs and discovered they were looking for someone to work part-time.
And the rest is history.
“It took me a while to realise I didn’t need a high-flying career and that the business world was not for me,” adds Gemma.
“I need to be working on the ground with people and here at Foxhunters I have found my ideal job.
“It’s a warm, cosy place and I love spending time with the ladies and gentlemen and having a laugh and giggle with them.
“This job is purely about the people, and you know you are making a difference each and every day,”
Outside of work, Gemma enjoys spending time with her family and being out in nature as much as possible.
