A complete U-turn
Date of news/blog: 7th May 2024With a degree in economics and international business, Alexandra Onisor was headed for a career in banking until she did a complete U-turn and became a nurse.
Alexandra’s story begins in her native Romania where she did her degree.
But with a career in finance beckoning, she had a change of heart and having come to the UK 14 years ago and working in various care settings, she decided to study to be a nurse instead.
And now, as our Clinical Nurse Lead, she works closely with our Deputy Home Director Alan, who is also a Nurse, in overseeing the work of the nursing team at Brockington. Including organising rotas and overseeing governance.
But she is also still very hands on.
Alexandra, who has a Level 5 qualification in Health and Social Care, says: “I have the best of both worlds because I still get to practice nursing whilst also being involved in the management side of the home, which I really enjoy.
“When I was younger, I thought I would end up in banking, but I decided I wanted to do something more personal and to know I was doing something good for others, and that’s exactly what I have here as a Nurse at Brockington.
“It’s an amazing place in which to work with a lovely positive atmosphere and a great staff team.”
Alexandra is hoping to go even further in her career and would one day like to become a Home Manager.
She adds: “I always deliver the best care I can and try my hardest to be the best at what I do, so I would love to be Home Director at Brockington in the future. That would be a dream.”
When she’s not trying to better herself, Alexandra enjoys spending time with her husband and their young son. She also enjoys cooking and keeping fit.
