Thinking outside the box
Date of news/blog: 11th March 2024We are always thinking outside the box when it comes to devising new activities for our ladies and gentlemen and a life size game of Hungry Hippos and a visit from recently-born lambs are two good examples.
Hungry Hippos, which was first introduced in the 1970s, involves players using mechanical hippos to try and grab as many little balls as possible with the animals’ mouths.
In our version, our staff pushed our lady participants in their wheelchairs as they attempted to grab onto ball pit balls with baskets attached to long poles which we had decorated as different coloured hippos.
Everyone had a great time and it was such a fun and stimulating activities.
Then, we had some animal therapy with a difference. Our ladies and gents are used to seeing PAT dogs in the home but on this occasion it was four-legged animals of a very different variety, namely lambs.
The lambs were brought in by a local farm and it was great to see the reaction of everyone’s faces as they held, stroked and watched the lambs run around.
